08:16 AM ET 08.14 | Between Mike Trout, who could edge out Miguel Cabrera for the American League MVP, and Mike Olt, who beat the Tigers with a pinch-hit single Saturday night, Detroit fans have to be wondering when a 20-year-old hot prospect of their own will get his chance. The time is now for Nick Castellanos. Detroit is two games behind the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central after losing for the fourth time in five games Sunday and also trail Baltimore and Tampa Bay as at least five teams battle for two wild-card spots. Meanwhile, Castellanos has spent the week with Tigers legend Al Kaline in Double-A Erie learning the nuances of right field, while maintaining a .300 average.

At the end you ruin the story by saying he is at Double A. Some of these guys must have nothing else to write about and will put anything in print. Bottom line if he was that good they would have him in Detroit now, but Mr. Writer Sept. 1st is not that far away and maybe then you will get your wish.

This guy has a bright future, but I really, really doubt he'll make an impact this year. They just started teaching him to be an outfielder, and he's never hit above AA ball. A lot of fans have been rosterbating over him, but I don't think he'll amount to much until next year, at the very earliest.

Hitting 300 in Double A is Good, but!

Headline: Next Young Star. Photo: somebody's grandpa The interns are doing better today than yesterday, but still room for improvement. A whole week to learn the "nuances" of fielding RF? I think it sounds like they are rushing him a lot.

They've got a few year window with Verlander, Prince and Miggy tied up. It's not by any means all-or-nothing this year. Next year they'll have VMart back, and they can hopefully do something about the corner outfield conundrum.

I think Mike Trout should get rookie of the year and Cabrera get MVP......
