08:20 AM ET 08.14 | Forgive Irish players for believing, at least for a day, that they are as good as gold. [A] large white envelope arrived in the mailbox of [Michael Deeb's] Florida home last week and when Deeb found the time to open it, he was greeted by a letter printed on shiny gold paper. "That's probably the nicest paper I've ever seen, Deeb said. "When you see that big, white envelope and you open it up, that gold paper really smacks you in the face there." ... The gold paper is used only for scholarship offers by Notre Dame -- a golden ticket of sorts. Head coach Brian Kelly personalizes each letter by writing the recruits' name at the top of the letter, signing it, and writing a message like "Welcome to the ND family."
