08:35 AM ET 08.15 | Max Pacioretty is now in the fold, and while P.K. Subban's re-upping has taken longer than expected, the Habs are confident that Montreal remains a valued destination. The deal with Pacioretty -- a 23-year old native of New Canaan, Conn., -- proves the Habs are capable of attracting good young players to long-term deals, [Marc Bergevin] said. ... As for the possibility of signing free agent Shane Doan, Bergevin acknowledged the Habs had made contact with the 35-year-old right winger. But the long-time Phoenix Coyote wants to take time to make his decision. There were reports that Doan had visited Montreal this summer. "If Doan was in Montreal ... he didn't tell me," Bergevin said.

But Shane declined when he found out he had to speak french

Not a good fit as Doan apparently has issues with la langue de Moliere.

Can't believe i'm about to say this, but for the love of god Montreal don't do it.

Like all the other stupid GMs this summer, they'll end up overpaying for his services. But then, with the Gomez contract, the Habs may have invented stupid.
