08:10 AM ET 08.17 | Carmelo Anthony, of all players, had some great things to say to Andre Iguodala about how he might fit in Denver. The Nuggets, of course, acquired Iguodala from the 76ers earlier this month in the four-team trade that sent Dwight Howard to the Lakers. Iguodala made some news at the news conference, admitting that he wants to sign with Denver long-term. He is currently under contract for 2012-13 and has a player option for 2013-14. "We weren't coming into this thinking this will be a one-year deal," Iguodala said. Denver executives Josh Kroenke and Masai Ujiri were also at the news conference. Ujiri spoke about how the team would like to lock down "Iggy" to a long-term deal, something he will look into in the coming season.

this team is going to be very good, they should be able to challenge OKC and the Lakers in the playoff

The problem with teams like Denver and other mid-markets: they have NO choice but to overpay a less-than-elite-player otherwise they won't come there.

LAL, OKC, SAS, LAC, DAL, NOH, DEN, MEM - most probably in that order.

Yeah Melo played his a** off here so much that Nuggets fans were more upset that Billups left rather than Melo himself. When his time here was over he was nothing more than a pain in a** and a lockeroom cancer.

Reading waaay too much into it.
Anthony left Denver, so the implication is that it's odd for someone who left a team under less then great conditions should be giving advice on how to fit in there.

A.I. is going to flourish is Denver run next to my man Ty Law. Hope he can get a long term deal done so that the distractions that can follow uncertainty can destroy a team if left unchecked. Hope to see Denver make some noise next season especially taking into account the success that had last season, in spite of the numerous injuries.

I get suspicious when players angle for contracts instead of waiting for the contracts to come to them. In this case you have Bynum and Iggy both crying for long term deals when they can stay putt and make more money later... makes me think they both have injuries or want to coast with guaranteed cash..... if I'm Nuggets and Philly I'd wait... especially Nuggets. They already have Chandler and Gallo at 3. There's no need to overpay to retain Iggy.

Denver has always been my team. Seeing him leave was difficult, but he allowed us to get something in return. We went to the playoffs every year with him - and nearly closed the Lakers out. I appreciate him as a player, and still watch NY highlights to see him play. I don't get the hate.
