Oakley: Knicks best players aren't helping

08:10 AM ET 08.17 | The Knicks may again be an on-court chemistry experiment, something Charles Oakley thinks could be cleared up by working on a hierarchy. "I think it's all about how you view your team and everybody knowing what their roles are," Oakley told The Post. "You look at Miami, the first year together, they made the finals, but the second year they won it. They had a better understanding of their roles together. I think that's what the Knicks need to do and players need to understand if they're the first option, second option or third option." ... "I think the problem with the Knicks is that their best two guys don't make the people around them better. You see it with the [ Heat, the Thunder], the Bulls, their top guys make others better."

But they haven't played a full season together.. 1 more season with this "experiment" should do it.

Well.. it shouldn't be an experiment. Going into the training camp coach has to come up with a predefined plan on who is number 1, 2, and 3.

I'd say STAT, Melo and fight for third among the scrubs.

QUOTE(#9):

They will be much better than they were early on last year under the D'Antoni era. How good they can be will depend on things that Oakley is mentioning.I think the Knicks should make Amare the bread and butter for 3 quarters and then let Melo start playing closer in the 4th. Mix that idea up as needed. It's really going to depend on the play of the point guard to find the right flow.

Happy Friday to you as well MMA.
