Why $16M means more than a new scoreboard in Indy

08:13 AM ET 08.17 | Arena upgrades are more than a fresh coat of paint for the Pacers. The [team's] $16 million investment in a sound system and gargantuan new scoreboards at Bankers Life Fieldhouse could signal the team's commitment to Indianapolis for the long haul. For fans, the upgrades will modernize the audio and visual experience inside the 13-year-old fieldhouse, Pacers business leaders say, and will keep the city-owned Downtown building in the top tier of arenas. But the team's investment also raises a question of timing. Is it a sweetener to get taxpayers to pony up more money? The Pacers are preparing for a new round of negotiations with the city -- talks aimed, in part, at continuing a recent $10 million-a-year subsidy.

Nobody's whining over the 16 mil. Just the opposite. They're trying to say, "Hey, look at us! We spent 16 mil of our own money to upgrade the arena!"

Yes. Actually he did improve MSG. Although its impossible to improve upon perfection. MSG isn't the world's most famous arena for nothing.

Hard to argue that

In the past 5 years, the best arena I've seen is the Mavericks. Worst has been the Kings (saw it this year).
I haven't been to MSG in like 8 years.

Been to the Mav's arena and I do think it's one of the best - btw- MSG is going through a complete overall, Phase II I think got completed over this Summer - It looked sweet last year after the first phase so can imagine what it will look like now.

I'll probably make a trip this season - to watch Knicks and Nets kill each other :-)
Noting like a teenage girl cat fight :-)
