08:16 AM ET 08.17 | To hear Don Mattingly tell it, Matt Kemp was tossed Thursday after hollering to teammate Andre Ethier. It began with [Joe Blanton] and the Dodgers being irritated from the start with home plate umpire Angel Campos' calls on balls and strikes. In the second inning, after Ethier took a called strike from A.J. Burnett, the Dodgers complained even louder. "Then Angel said, 'That's enough, I don't want to hear another word,'" Mattingly] said. "Moments later, 'Matt said, 'Let's go, 'Dre,' and [Campos] looked over and threw him out of the game." That prompted a livid Kemp to run on the field to confront Campos. Mattingly then took over [and was ejected himself]. ... "The league should look at it," Mattingly said. ... "You can't get thrown out for cheering for your teammate. That's unacceptable."

Kemp was tossed for hollering right after the ump told the Dodgers to knock it off. What he hollered doesn't matter. Although I think the ump was being a little too sensative and should have considered what was said not just when.

Of course, we have no way of knowing what tone of voice Kemp used and that may have been what iratated the ump not what or when Kempo said it!!!.

The umpire was out of line -- it's not a second grade school classroom. Why didn't he just tell the players to put their heads on their desk and remain silent.

C'mon Blue -- you gotta use some smarts.

Donnie Baseball would do well to keep his mouth shut as long as Bud Light is The Commissioner, look for Ped's, Drugs, Lousy Umpiring and a Host of Other miss Managed Services, like rising ticket cost, food cost and my favorite, Beer and Nuts! I agree. Those umps at the Pirates/Dodgers game yesterday were all set on hair trigger. That was ridiculous. As a Pirate fan, I'll take it, because we've been on the short end of that stick many times, but it was still ridiculous.

I was one of the blue shirts myself for 15 years. The golden rule of being a good umpire is let the boys play and argue a little if need be, make the book rules calls right, and be seen not heard and not be the center of attention on the field.

Sounds like a great approach. MLB needs umpires with this approach.

It's a shame you retired. We could use more of that, as opposed to umps like Cowboy Joe West, who has to be the center of every play.

Yep. He should be kicked out of the league. Either that or traded to the Giants. I'm ok with either one.

I was at your fine city's ballpark on Wednesday night to see Kershaw pitch a winner. It's nice to see fans at the stadium. You might have the best ballpark in the big leagues.

if the manager its trying to encourage his players all what he its trying to do with that its,, inject some positive attitude, and nothing its wrong with that,,,, if blaton started all this fuss then he should had been tossed out, but it seems as if the home plate umpire did had all kind of problems with every player in the blue's team,,,,,

it's a free country, allegedly, Mr. Selig

was a free country,,, not any more, soon very soon obama would bring a new rule on every employee to get injected a chip in their upper hand which in terms they would be using as a identification, and if you try to removed by cutting your hand off you would die because it would be all over your DNA, and if you refuse to coperate with the goverment then they would turn off the chip and you no longer exist why?? because you will die!!!

The game was umped almost like it was payback for actions from a game earlier in the season.
