Georgia's 'special' freshman leads RB race

08:22 AM ET 08.17 | And a freshman shall lead them? Georgia coach Mark Richt tried to downplay the performance of tailback Todd Gurley in Wednesday's scrimmage. The freshman from Tarboro, N.C, led the Bulldogs in rushing for the second time in as many scrimmages this preseason. This time with 87 yards on 7 carries, two touchdowns -- including a 66-yarder -- and two receptions for another 22 yards. But Richt was unable to dampen the excitement of Georgia's players, who are making up their own mind about what they're seeing from the young back. "Special," senior safety Shawn Williams said. "When I'm standing on the sideline and watching, all I can say is, 'Wow!' ... I was like, 'that's going to be a Trent Richardson right there.'"

Special is a term used for kids on the short bus.

Hope he works out better than their last freshman RB.

Other than his embarrassing 4-fumble performance against UTK (Big Orange will mind-**** him his entire collegiate career), I do hope that Gurley exceeds the estimable performance of Trent Richardson.

Which one is in more trouble this year, GA or TN? Is Brey back for the Vols?

UGA is only in trouble because the BullDawg Nation is fledermaus-crap-crazy. UTK's troubles are well documented. Bray is healthy and inked in to start for the Vols.

Comparing him to Trent Richardson? Trent wasn't all that good.

Actually I guess he really didn't break out until he made it to the NFL.

IIRC, Davis did pretty well against da Gatuhs.

Also mean UGA D suxs

Hoping that turns out to be correct. Not so sure it will, though.

UGA has a pretty good D. Their achilles heal has been play calling, especially on offense (BoBo boo boos).

Colonel the answer to your question is Dooley. Richt just sign an extension with the Dawgs, and if the Vols are 500 or less halfway through the season you will hear the moving vans starting to fire up.

Moving vans? Probably not, toad. You see, Dools isn't Bill Battle. He lacks the moving van cache (besides, the moving companies must have gotten wise to this ruse by now).

If there isn't significant progress evident in the program, likely AD Hart will start a behind-the-scenes search for a new HC. If there isn't a top candidate available/interested, Hart may give Double D a 1 year extension to get it up or get gone.

Bobby Petrino will be the HC at UTK next year

I like you, WPS, but for that comment, you owe penance. Two verses of Rocky Top. Go with God.
