Sympathetic character: Gary Bettman?

08:26 AM ET 08.17 | One only need to watch Gary Bettman introduced to an NHL crowd to know a little about his public perception. If there's a lockout, [Bettman] will once again be portrayed as a villain; like it is all his fault. That's because Bettman is the face of NHL ownership. He represents the owners and it is his face that will be plastered all over your television, newspaper and computer screen. In this regard, I actually feel a little bit for the veteran executive. Oh, it will be Bettman who makes the announcement that the season will not start on time ... but it will not be his choice. Nope, that decision will be made by the owners of the 30 teams that you might think would all have a similar interest on being on the same page as one another.

Isn't the lockout enough punishment for fans?

and, it what they forget to mention, is that Dwarfus Horribilu was the one that came out and basically said (after Fehr offered to play through the deadline) no deal, no games.
And while I get the idea of the piece, (though disgaree) it cannot be overlooked that little cretin oversaw t work stoppages already. He has to take some of that on himself
To make or try make him sympathetic would be laughable, if he weren't such an arrogant, slimy little man

So instead of the super villain he's just an evil minion? I don't see how that elicits sympathy.
