Time running out for Harrell

08:07 AM ET 08.17 | Officially, anyway, one verdict after Thursday remains out. The hardest decision general manager Ted Thompson and coach Mike McCarthy will have when rosters are trimmed to the final 53 will be whether to pick Graham Harrell as the backup behind Aaron Rodgers. ... [Thompson and McCarthy] can't assume that Rodgers will replicate his unscathed 2011 season. They need to know if Harrell can win them a game or two if something were to happen to Rodgers. There were no clear-cut answers Thursday night in the Packers' lackluster 35-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns at Lambeau Field, although to the 68,021 who attended it certainly seemed like the verdict was in. Few left thinking Harrell was capable of the job.

There aren't 32 NFL-quality quarterbacks in the whole league. If your starter goes out with an injury, you're done. Get used to it.
Counting on your clipboard holder to win "a game or two" is pretty optimistic, unless you luck out and he gets to play one of the girls' school teams in this league.

How can you feel sorry for the Pack when they let Flynn walk away to Seattle. The answer next week is to let Harrell play with the first team and see what he can do, if not satisfied with him you can pick up a QB at the final cut.

35-10 loss to the Browns and Weeden...yeah it's preseason, but...that's not good!

It does seem like he was showcased for them. He looked pretty impressive on that drive, but 1) it's preseason and 2) they have plenty of film of the kid in Cleveland. Can't help but think Green Bay, clearly a strong organization, would be looking for someone who won't turn the ball over.

They didnt let Flynn walk away...he rode outta town on a pile of ca$h! You cant pay ur backup QB big money, thats just not smart business. He 'earned' a big payday and ca$hed in...cant fault the Packers or Flynn for that

Wouldn't be surprised if Holmgren hasn't already received a call fro GB. Harrell was just awful. Colt did look pretty good last night. Actually all 3 Browns QBs played well.
