09:57 AM ET 08.19 | Having just been slammed to the ground by a pair of Seattle Seahawks, new Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was getting himself back on his feet when he heard the weirdest sound. Cheers. Loud, enthusiastic cheers from the knowledgable crowd at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Manning smiled in amusement. He couldn't believe what he was hearing but sure enough, he heard it. "I might have," he said. "I've never heard a crowd cheer for an incompletion before."

The neck is fine. This man will tear up the league this year and next. Although folks in Indy are raving about the number of points Luck put up the other night in his first pre-season game, he's going to have a rough regular season. Five wins at most for the Colts this year while the Broncos will win two playoff games.

For the same reason Lou in Receiving is 76, has been at the company for 52 years and is the first guy there every morning...only on a larger scale.
Some guys just need the job. And Peyton is only 38, not 76. In his mind, he's got a lot left and a lot more to accomplish. He doesn't realize he's old and he's not ready for a life of golf and celebrity appearances.
Personally, I'd take the half billion he's already made and run like hell, but I can see where he's coming from and I respect his POV.

He looks better than Tebow did in NY, and may last longer if T keeps running with the ball.

I very seldom watch a preseason game, but I did watch the Denver and Seattle game last night and FWIW, Manning didn't look all that good, but again it's just a preseason game. Yes he did complete 16 of 23 passes, but he had two picks and quite a few of his passes were the 5/6 yard dump off type of pass.

Hey, be nice! He's been one of my favorite players since he got in the league. Did a lot of awesome things in Indy. He'll be fine in Denver.
