Will new Vikings stadium have partially retractable roof?

10:00 AM ET 08.19 | There seems little chance that the new Vikings stadium will have a fully retractable roof when it opens in 2016. That's because the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority that oversees the project has received an estimate that such a roof would cost $190 million in addition to the $975 million already projected for the stadium. There is a better chance, however, that the stadium that will be built on the site of the Metrodome will have a partially removable covering that would allow for a view of downtown Minneapolis. A partially removable roof would be expected to cost between $25 million and $50 million. One problem, though, remains: who would pay for it, the Vikings or the authority. Both sides are reluctant.

So Otis, if it is cold as he@@ in Minny and I sit on a bench outside the facility and get a frostbitten buttock, can I sue the owner?

If they want an MLS team, they have to have a retractable roof. The Wilf's want to bring a team on. Makes sense, given it would then be in use in the summer.

Haha, MLS.
NFL practices draw bigger audiences.
That sounds like a good way to eff yourselves monetarily for the next 5-10 years.

Either the owner of the stadium or the manufacturer of the crappy winter apparral.
Unless you aren't wearing winter apparral... In which case you sue the maker of the whiskey.

I just wish we'd have gotten rid of the Dome all together, but that obviously wasn't going to happen. That's why I can't wait until we played at TCF Bank Stadium in 2015.

I say let the middle class taxpayers of Minnesota put more money in the hands of billionaire Ziggy Wilf and the multi-millionaire players. Who could POSSIBLY expect them to build their own stadiums when the NFL only brings in $9B per year?
