More to Fister's struggles?

08:16 AM ET 08.20 | Sunday's start marked Doug Fister's 12th since being activated from the 15-day DL with a left side strain, and, in contrast to most of them, this one didn't go well. The seven earned runs allowed matched the seven Fister gave up in his previous five starts combined. To make matters worse, six of the seven runs came with two outs. "You could see he wasn't quite right," [Jim Leyland] said. "Just one of those days." ... [Given] the regularity of him missing his spots Sunday, oftentimes high, his health was called into question. "We'll just have to wait and see what goes on," said Leyland when asked if he was battling an injury. "His side is all right. There's nothing wrong with his side at all." But, could it be something else?

Number one almost 50 per cent of pitching is mental. The Tigers should make the playoffs and if Fisher is still struggling he will be bullpen bound, because in the playoffs you need less starters.

The guy put together seven straight starts that ranged from good to excellent. Isn't this a bit of an overreaction to one bad game?

He's laid a few eggs this year too, not just this game. I think the fear is that his injury never completely healed itself, which is of great concern. After Verlander, Scherzer and him, there's the ever consistent Porcello and Sanchez who has blown donkey nuts so far against AL opponents. The Tigers really need Fister to be at the top of his game right now -- and if they can make it, in the playoffs.

i would say that he doesn't need too much to fix his inconssitent pitching outing, rather he would need to skip a start then give him his normal schedule as it was before, a little rest should fix his problems in the mound!!!

tigers starters had struggle but at least they are better than the halos rotation, plus the tigers have a little more spark in every game from their offense something where the angels did lack in the whole season long,,,

as we all know, in no place or sports can't win if their offense its a wrecked end, in the angels position can't be accepted any excuse any more, poor offense in 2011??the owner brought in slugger pujols, not enough durability in their rotation?? the GM brought in CJ WILSON, inconssitent at the lead off spot?? the GM brought up the sensacional mike trout, where its the borken spell? where its the misperfect connection in the halos roster???the pitching coach got old in his tactics as a pitching intructor, the hitting coach can'y overcome the puzzle left by the previus hitting coach, and the manager mike sciocia can't win a inconssistent amount of games with all this inconssistant matches between hitters and pitchers,,,,
