Ryan Tannehill was named the Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Monday, and was set to become the first rookie to start the season at the position in franchise history. ... Training camp began with a three-way quarterback battle, but the loss of David Garrard to a knee injury narrowed the battle to Tannehill and Moore. [Joe Philbin] left open the possibility of Garrard competing for the job at a later date. "Ryan Tannehill's our starter," Philbin said. "I told you guys David Garrard was our starter and two days later he (suffered a knee injury). He's our starter right now. David Garrard, when he comes back we'll see what happens, but right now this is where we're at."

Technically, true, but Bob Griese was QB in Game 1 of his rookie season and for the rest of the season.
