Billups adds offseason fuel to Lakers rivalry

"They are trying to stack the deck over there, but I tell you what -- I'm very pleased with my team and what we've been able to do and I will just say this -- don't nobody scare me, man," said the former Piston with a chuckle. ... He would like to be ready when training camp opens in a few weeks, but he is shooting for the season opener. "I think it's going to be close, but I'm shooting to be ready for the regular season, to be honest with you," Billups said. "But obviously you don't just jump out there in the regular season with no practices, I would never do that. But honestly, I'm not in a rush at all."

Billups and the Clippers shouldn't be scared of the Lakers. They need to fear the Grizzlies, Mavs or which ever WC team will probably keep them out of the top four at the end of the season!

The Lakers bench will be suspect, their depth chart is weak at pg after Nash (and his poor defense), and who knows if Dwight will be the same coming back from back surgery. I think the Clippers are loaded at every position, and have one of the deepest benches in the league. The only thing that might screw it up is if Del Negro is in over his head coaching them. If they have a slide like they did mid-season last year then he must be cut loose.

The Grizzlies will be around the top 5 (all the records up there will be close to each other), but the Mav's? There time passed when Cuban didn't resign members of the championship team. They signed low 2nd and 3rd tier players to replace them, and Dirk isn't getting any younger.

Even if it does pop again, they are so deep they have other good talent to replace him. They can play Crawford of Bledsoe as the 2 guard and pretty much not skip a beat.

They are not even with the Clippers because the Clippers had most of the big pieces in place and have been able to sign the right accompanying pieces. The Mavs only had Dirk and then rushed to fill roster spots after they failed getting the big fish. It's a hodgepodge that doesn't fit well and was hastily thrown together.

Aside from Chris Paul, at what position do the Clippers have an advantage over the Lakers? I'd even take Pau in a reduced roll over the one-trick-pony that is Blake Griffin.

Yeah, I was going to ask you about the Grizzlies. I know the Clippers beat the Grizz last season but as you said they came back from a 25 point deficit. And while that's a great come back, it's less common than losing when down by that many points.
Not dissing the Clippers but it's silly when haters sit here and basically say that the Lakers have no chance against them. I know you disagree with that statement.
