Disgruntled MJD open to trade

07:59 AM ET 08.22 | The Maurice Jones-Drew drama took on a new wrinkle on Tuesday. [Shad Khan] sparked a visceral reaction from a disgruntled [Jones-Drew]. The running back even told one person close to him that if the owner really isn't concerned with him, then he should trade him to someone who will be. If Jones-Drew is expendable, his camp believes that gives them permission to seek a trade. ... [Khan] reiterated once again that he won't back down to Jones-Drew's desires for a new contract with two years remaining on his current deal. "Train is leaving the station," Khan said, "Run, get on it." Earlier in the week, Khan told Yahoo! Sports about his absence, "Believe me, it's not a great concern." That hasn't sat well with Jones-Drew or his camp.

We'll see how MJD handles the increasing fines and loss of pay. He will remain under the 2 yr contract if he sits out the season. NFL players don't have the leverage as some in other sports. If he has a signing bonus, then they can come after a pro-rated portion of that as well. At most, I would expect him to hold out for the partial season and come back so he can get credit for the season. Real question is, did he put aside enough $ to sit out?

I could only imagine what a player like Jones-Drew would do if he made a real NFL team.

Can't figure out why he would not be open to a trade. There is no hope of success with that franchise.

Admittedly, it's hard to really understand this story, but isn't it MJD who is asking to be traded?
If someone offered The Shiekh a couple of good breeding camels, I wouldn't be surprised to see MJD in a new suit before the regular season.

Not any more: Here is the new hold out rules in the CBA in the proverbial nutshell.
$30,000 a day fine ( The team chooses if they wish to fine the player). But here is the kicker:
If a player fails to report to his team a minimum of 30 days before their first regular season game, the entire season will not count towards his service time.
The titans need to do nothing. Nothing.

Not so sure about that. At what price? The Titans would want fair value, and then you have a guy making almost $5 million a year the next two years who wants more. RBs are not what they used to be.

I'm thinking New York Jets. Or maybe the Dolphins.
Think about these two teams. They are both locked into their quarterbacks, none of whom has distinguished himself as a passer. So, when you can't pass, what do you do? Right. Now, what do both of these teams lack? A breakout running back.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but i find it refreshing that there are still guys around like Victor Cruz, making the league minimum again, after setting a franchise record for receiving yardage. Before camp, he said he didn't know what the phrse "hold out" MEANT. Jones Drew may be a great running back, but if you put yourself before your team, you'll never be more than a t fantasy player with attitude and poison in the locker room (see Tiki Barber), too good for his own team. Which is what's wrong with sports in general these days. How many guys get a big bump in their contracts and then come out and have a mediocre year? Fat Albert and Plexiglass Burress come to mind. How much did McNabb do it in Washington? He didn't even learn the playbook.

What a joke......he got $26.5 mil guaranteed that included a $9mil signing bonus ..$4.5mil 2012...$4.9mil 2013...with another $1.8mil in incentives...so we are talking $31mil for 5 years......honor your contract or don't sign the damned thing.....
