08:04 AM ET 08.22 | The Jet may have a new coat of paint, but he's still grounded in Dallas. For Jason Terry, winning an NBA title was the ultimate as far as personal team achievements are concerned. But what could happen next would be sheer euphoria. "The bow was winning the championship, but the icing on the cake will be putting that jersey up in the rafters," Terry told the Star-Telegram on Monday. "If it happens, I???ll be grateful." Terry was referring to the possibility of having his Dallas Maverick No. 31 jersey retired in the American Airlines Center rafters. ... Terry, 34, also led the Mavs to the 2006 NBA Finals and helped them win the 2011 championship.

Terry's number will be there eventually. Dirk and Kidd will be there first. Can't fault Terry for being candid about what he wants.

Fixed.

The Lakers already have a maintenance crew that takes care of that. But we can always allow Terry to sweep up the confetti after the ceremony if he really wants to be involved.

Sounds like JT thinks a bit too highly of himself..just bc u win a 'chip doesnt = jersey from rafters. Save that for guys who are HOF material or at least considered one of the best in their decade. If you were to make an all-decade (using the 2000s) team of strictly gaurds, JT would be on the 15th team at the HIGHEST...settle down Jason

Things have changed a bit in today's NBA. The sixth man has become more important than ever. Not saying it wasn't important before, but the way coaches manage player's time and rotation, it is simply impossible to put up a winning team if you don't have a quality 6th man that can create his own shot, make big shots and is capable of closing games as well.

Terry did all that for Dallas. More so, unlike many other "fringe-AS" players before, he actually helped them win a ring.

Surely, he deserves consideration.

Well in regards to Kidd's number being there and Terry's a hopeful, it seems to me that you and Cuban have the Jason mixed up in regards to who's jersey should be in the rafters. It is Terry who is the more accomplished as it pertains to the Mavs prerequisite for rafterism. Jason, Kidd that is did half as much as Terry in terms of helping the Mavs become champions, plus Terry was uncerimonously not signed as oppose to just straight steppin off. Kidd, no doubt is more accomplished as a NBA player and in a no doubt HOF'er, but lets be real here, his stints with he Mavs are not rafters worthy........Jason Terry's on the other hand, quite frankly are.
