08:05 AM ET 08.22 | After having surgery three weeks ago to remove a bone spur from his right ankle, Hornets rookie guard Austin Rivers said he remains on schedule to open October's training camp. Rivers continues to do most of his rehabilitation work in Winter Park, Fla., his hometown, but said he plans to return to New Orleans soon to resume work. Rivers, who is the son of Boston Celtics Coach Doc Rivers, was limited to two games during the Hornets' five-game schedule in the Las Vegas summer league because of what was termed lower leg soreness by the team. "I'm doing great actually now, so I'll be back very soon," Rivers said Tuesday. ... "It's got a lot better and I actually got even stronger than I think I was before I got hurt."

He better start learning to be a PG really fast because it's different in the NBA.

His size is good for a PG but not for a SG.

Sooooooooooooooooo.........if 6'4" A.Rivers plays the point, then that would have 6'3" Eric Gordan playing the shooting guard.

That makes a lot of 'sense'......thanks ;-) !

Rivers and Gordan are 'combo' guards and my guess is that they can coexist as a starting backcourt in N.O.

Jus' sayin'.

I can already tell this kid is going to be a head case... this chucker is going to cause some problems for the Hornets going forward...

Really?

How can you "tell this"?

He was rattled coming off the bench for Duke... it'll be worse when he gets benched in the NBA for his lack of D and constant chucking of bad shots.. then you'll see exactly what I'm talking about...

He was rattled coming off the bench for Duke? Which game(s) was this? I am an avid DUKE fan and watch every game. If you said he struggled trusting his teammates or had questionable shot selection at times, then I'd agree. But I had never seen Austin look rattled in any situation. Not even against UNC in the clutch, which is the biggest moment to any DUKE player..on the road in the Dean Dome with the game on the line....SWISH right over Tyler Zeller's outstretched arm

Winter Park...Orlando. Same place basically.

Winter Park can be a bit snooty, that's why they always differentiate.

Drinking this early in the day is indicative of a very pronounced alcohol abuse problem.

Just sayin'.

Curious to see how his game translates in the NBA... flash in the pan or the real deal... His father was a tough cookie.

I thought his father was a Doctor...
