08:07 AM ET 08.22 | With speculation swirling over the possibility of Roger Clemens pitching again in the majors, why not? Andy Pettitte is clearly not satisfied with his injury-shortened return from a premature retirement. Does that mean he's coming back next year? Pettitte's not sure, but he's certainly not ruling it out. "It seems like things don't work out like you envision them in life," he said. "I figured coming in here that I would pitch this year and I would fully exhaust myself of whatever I had left in me as far as for baseball or whatever. And as of this moment right now, I want to pitch more right now than I did when I first came to the big leagues." ... Would he rule out one more season? "No, I wouldn't," he said.

I know it is not about the money with these guys trying to hang on for one more shot. These players have got to remember some of the great ball players in the past like big lefty, Mays, and others who did the same, and were awful in trying to be what they once were great.

There's no doubt in my mind that Andy still has the skill to compete and do well. I can't wait to see him pitch again this fall. His only issue is going injury free.

The difference is Pettitte hasn't been as awful as Carlton or Mays.

Please..Pettitte is so straight edge it's ridiculous. He was ill-advised by Clemens to take some HGH so he could come back from an injury faster- and in normal life, HGH and testosterone are widley prescribed. He manned up and admitted his mistake, unlike other players who were caught. The guy is clutch and probably could pitch another 2-3 seasons. He obviously regrets retiring in 2011.

Maybe, maybe not. Truth is, I really don't care whether players use or not. However, Pettite did admit to using HGH, so whether he was being completely honest is pure speculation. My joke was also supposed to spill over into the rumors that Clemens is trying to return as well.
