No. 1 pick headed to KHL?

08:17 AM ET 08.22 | Nail Yakupov may have been house-hunting in Edmonton, but he's not set on staying there through any lockout. [Yakupov] plans on going overseas to continue playing professionally, according to his agent. Yakupov's agent, Igor Larionov, told the Edmonton Journal that the Edmonton Oilers No. 1 pick will either join the Kontinental Hockey League and play for his his hometown Russian team Niznekamsk, or join a team in Sweden or Finland if NHL players get locked out this fall. Despite the fact that Yakupov still has junior eligibility left, Larinov says he won't return to Sarnia to play at the junior level. The KHL is an ideal lockout destination for many NHLers, as 25 of the league's games are played in the first two months of the season.

From the headline I thought he decided he didn't want to play in Edmonton and was jumping ship for the KHL. It makes perfect sense for him to go to play somewhere professionally if the NHL is under a lockout.

My advice..........1. Keep a Putin bumper sticker on the car. 2. Don't go to see a female rock group perform in a Russian Orthodox church. 3. Have a qualified mechanic check out the airplane your team is using and make sure the crew is not (currently) drunk. 4. Remember that you are welcome in all of Edmonton's hot spots anytime you become "homesick for the Oil".
