08:17 AM ET 08.23 | Can Alabama keep reloading? The defensive talent that defending BCS national champion Alabama lost to the National Football League in this past April's draft has been well-documented. Strong safety Mark Barron, cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, inside linebacker Dont'a Hightower, outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw, defensive tackle Josh Chapman and cornerback DeQuan Menzie were all drafted by NFL teams, which means that Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban and defensive coordinator Kirby Smart have had their work cut out for them this offseason determining which pieces will fit best as replacements for those stars.

That's a lot of experience to replace. You can't recruit experience.

This is what coaches are for right. Take athletes, mold them and give them experience.

Yes.
But it's easier for fans to believe in the "we don't rebuild we just reload" cliche.

They are thin at QB with Simms leaving. Better hope AJ stays healthy.

But haven't their backups been playing?
If they have any game experience, then the coaches say, they are experienced and ready to go. It's the true/RS Freshmen that are an unknown.

Yeah the article didn't make that real clear. Hopefully JK or Pachy can shed some light.

Do any of the articles on here make anything real clear except constantly showing Satan in that ugly suit and Mack looking constipated?

We have some "inexperience" but not as much as people would have you believe. We have returning starters in every area to help the younger guys. This is not like 2010 when we had 9 DBs graduate or leave early for the draft.
The DL is probably the most experienced, then the LBs, then the DBs, - We have highly rated guys in the positions being replaced, though. So... will there be some dropoff? Probably but it will not be as much as people think.
We'll be a top 10 defense and probably even a top 5 defense.
As for QB, name me one team that won't be in deep trouble if their starting QB goes down...It's a really important position and usually the vast majority of experience resides in the starter.

The rusty cows. They can lose any of the QBs and it won't make any difference. Same/same

Would be a total accident!!! The only teams that can lose a starting QB and still be at the same level they were before are teams that suck in the first place. Experience at QB is the most vital position on the field if you plan to score points. I am not a fan of Landry Jones, but I do believe that he has improved each year and is a high quality player, if we lose him it totally changes the offense. For all my loathing of his play at times, he has the chance to be the first or 2nd qb ever to win 4 bowl games???
