Marlins ready to go young, take lumps?

08:13 AM ET 08.24 | Not shy with his opinions, Ozzie Guillen sounded Thursday like a man managing a franchise with an identity crisis. An honest assessment will determine where the club is headed. Will it go young, find core players and grow together? Or will it brush off 2012 as a bad year, regroup and make the necessary additions to make a strong run in '13? "If we're going to be younger here, then OK, what kind of young team are we going to have?" Guillen said. "Are we going to go forward, or are we going to stay the same? If we're going to go young, just go young, and suffer for a couple of years and see what happens. Or are you going to compete, and make a mix [of veterans with young players]? Then who's coming here to make the mix? It's all a process."

I am sure that management doesn't want motor mouth telling the fans of the Marlins that they are going to go young with that brand new stadium there needed to be fill to help pay for it.

HA! After all the pre-season hype, they are getting what they deserve.....there is no team chemistry and the major problem could be a coach who is bigger than the team...

Sounds like Ozzie is covering his **** after such a disappointing season. And, yes, I care about the Marlins - I guess that makes me 1 of the 2 fans.

Identity Crisis?
When they trade away Ramirez & Sanchez - 2 players that "were" part of the core, it's pretty clear what direction they're going...

Loria needs to just sell the team to someone who cares, then let that new person come in and clean house - fire Guillen and trade away any "serviceable" player that's worth something and build from prospects up. I hate the Marlins with a passion, but that plan worked out well for the Nationals so until they do something similar I'll continue laughing down at them wallowing in the cellar with the Mets and Phillies.

Someone's gotta be in the cellar.
And don't gloat too much about the Nats - it wasn't that long ago that they were in the same position as the Marlins, with a brand new ballpark yet not much of a future until Harper and Strasberg came along.

I think the Marlins should have claimed Agon and Beckett off waivers and added in Carl Crawford for a bag of rocks, which is what the Red Sox are going to get from the Dodgers.

Ironically, the Nationals were fine once Loria was shown the door and the Marlins have had 2 (going on 3) firesales since that time. Coicidence? I think not. Worst owner in pro sports, hands down. The man wasn't satisfied ruining the Expos. Naah he's gotta ruin the Marlins too...
