08:16 AM ET 08.24 | For the better part of his football career, Josh Mitchell has been one of the smallest players on the field. He's 5-foot-11 and is listed in the Nebraska football media guide as weighing just 155 pounds, the lightest guy on the roster. But his dad played football -- and pretty well at that. Mario Mitchell was a standout defensive back at San Diego State and got a taste of the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams and San Diego Chargers. Josh wanted to play the game his father did. So he did. ... "I carry myself with a big man mentality," he said. It's working. Because the Husker sophomore is very much in the mix for one of the starting cornerback spots for the Sept. 1 opener against Southern Miss.

5-11 is about what most CBs stand. If he's got the speed, quickness and is willing to stick his headgear in when that sweep comes his way, give the man some playing time.

Why not. Read of a 6th grader (12 yrs old), here in TN, that became the youngest player to throw for a TD, in a high school varsity game. Video w/ article showed his small frame throwing a good pass too!

Exactly. Leach used to line those little rug rats of his up against bigger DBs and the DBs wound up grabbing air most of the time. Wes Welker ring a bell?
Those opponents that adjusted contained Tech. Those that didn't allowed the QBs to set crazy yards passing records.

He needs to add some weight so he doesn't get muscled out of position. If teams can get their 6+ 210 pound guy in a mismatch, he'll be pushed around.

Start stuffing him with those Omaha stakes and sweet Nebraska corn, along with a case of beer every night he will gain weight, I can testify to this.

See what happens we they enter the Big 10 they get smaller and smaller to let Wisconsin and TOSU think they are the true powerhouse. I think Delany told him to start the kid or they would be sent back to the BIG12
