Keenan wants back in the NHL

08:21 AM ET 08.24 | Mike Keenan is now more than three years removed from his last stint on an NHL bench. His up-and-down run involving eight teams over 25 years ended in 2009, when he led the Calgary Flames to their last Stanley Cup Playoff appearance. But after an eventful summer, the man known as "Iron Mike" is still hoping for another shot in the NHL. For Keenan, things picked up markedly in April, when he was announced as the new coach of the Canadian hockey team for the 2013 Maccabiah Games. ... "I'd love to coach back in the League. You never know if the game is going to call you back or not," Keenan said. "I still have the intellect for it, the knowledge and the passion for the game."

Keenan was once a great coach, but his time has passed. I did love him as Flyers coach in the mid 80's as he took an underacheiving team to the Finals twice. But he sort of wears on guys after a few years and then usually loses the teams altogether. It was sort of sad to see him coach team after team in the past 15 years, but I guess the fire never burns in guys like him.

I think today's players wouldnt be able to handle Keenan. I mean he grabbed JR around the throat and he responded.
