10:38 AM ET 08.26 | Usually Penn State's opener finds some fans opting for a Labor Day holiday stay elsewhere and many students sleeping in, but Saturday vs. Ohio figures to be different. Starting when the Nittany Lions emerge from the tunnel with blue ribbons on their helmets in honor of victims of child abuse, and player names (!) across the backs of their jerseys, it should be electric.

I agree. It's early in the process, but O'Brian seems like he's doing and saying all the right things. I hope that he succeeds, but not just at restoring the program. I hope he keeps football as a means to an end, and not let it become the reason for being. Paterno started well, but lost his way, to the shame of the university and the harm of many innocents.

Hate to see the fabled uni's change but I understand it. Just wish the change was only for the 4 years probation and then go with a players vote to keep or change them.

I only hope the team isn't booed when they take the field on the road. None of these players or coaches had any culpability in the horrors that took place under Paterno.

And do PSU fans and students really 'usually' not pay attention to their season opener?

I' guessing first game against a MAC team doesn't usually stir the blood.

I agree with you on this one. The players and current coaches did nothing to bring this program down. I really feel for them. Maybe this is the wrong thing to say, and maybe I'll get criticized for it, but it's too bad that Joe Pa isn't still alive to see all this happening, to get one hell of an earful from victims, to maybe even be prosecuted for not doing enough to stop the monster on his coaching staff. I say he took the easy way out.

A gutsy, but necessary move by coach and players. O'Brien seems to be making more of a case all the time that he's the guy to make things better. Difficult, difficult job.

Do we really need a PSU article here like every day? Uniforms now? How about one tomorrow on which toothpaste O'Brien uses?

I still believe the "Death Penalty" should have been invoked, for at least one season. I'm thinking more like 4, but the penalty should be more towards the university and the people involved. This coming from a long time JoePa fan. He did seem to get the easy way out, but if he is guilty of anything, I'm sure he's paying still. Sandusky should be hung, with any victims getting the front row. The other suits at PSU should be jailed felons, with a big ol' mean cellmate that will take care of their time in the slammer. Pun intended.
