11:06 AM ET 08.26 | The Rockies are expected to offer Dexter Fowler a multiyear contract this winter. The chances of a deal getting done increased, even if only slightly, when Fowler left agent Scott Boras, known for his hard-line approach, for Casey Close three weeks ago. Fowler talked highly of Boras, but said Close made more sense for him at this juncture in his career.

I'm sure any team is relieved when their dealings with Scott Boras are minimized.

I've always felt Fowler played way under his potential over the years, especially the way he dogged it in the outfield. No real surprise that he's playing very well now that his contract is up for renewal. I'd like to see him stay as long as he doesn't get the usual "post-big-free-agent-contract-slump".

Fowler could've stayed in Colorado if that was his choice. Boras is well known for creating a bidding war for players even if it's just one team lol - See Alex Rodriguez...
