Does Philbin know what he's doing?

08:06 AM ET 08.27 | Walking away from Chad Johnson seemed an easy choice under the circumstances, but critics have a bit more fuel for the fire now. The question today isn't whether the Dolphins got fair value in trading cornerback Vontae Davis to Indianapolis or if this season is sinking before opening kickoff. The question is this: Does Joe Philbin know what he's doing? Because this latest, boldest move of trading Davis two weeks before the season opener started with Philbin. ... People keep looking at Philbin and asking if he's tough enough. That's the wrong question. Read that to-do list again. Philbin is plenty tough enough to make decisions most coaches wouldn't. But is he shrewd enough? Able enough?

Seems like he wants to put the point across of, "My way, or highway."
Problem with that, "his way" isn't proven.

Ah yes, nothing quite like watching that honeymoon period come crashing down and the second guessing begin.

Can't think of any GM who wouldn't trade a backup for a 2nd rounder. (other than Matt Millen)

The Miami media seems to be in late-season form already. It might be nice to let the season begin first.

He's doing something that I don't think Miami is used to: Setting things up for the future.

Seems to be a good idea too - except for the leering press down there. I guess they thought this team was going to the Super Bowl this year.

Gotta wonder if Matt Millen involved as Philbin's top advisor?...Matt should not be allowed anywhere near a foot ball camp--- much less the microphone--after all of the damage he did to Detroit....John Madden raved about Matt's football intellect for years--Maybe not so much lately...
Could Philbin prove to be as Dopey as Matt Millen? Jury still out--- but there is a strong possibliity.
