08:10 AM ET 08.28 | Credit Detroit Pistons forward Jonas Jerebko for his optimism. [Jerebko] is playing for Team Sweden in the qualifying round of the 2013 Eurobasket tournament, but he's also keeping focus on his NBA lift. Asked after a recent game in Germany how the Pistons are shaping up this season, he sounded an optimistic tone. "We got a deep team," Jerebko said. "Our goal was the playoffs last year. We played playoff basketball, but we started off the season horrible. We're going to get better. We got a young team, and we're going to make the playoffs." Jerebko scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds in Sweden's 111-74 win over Luxembourg in a Eurobasket 2013 qualifier [Monday] in Sweden.

Hey Jonas thats what you shoot for....but I would say we are a year away from the playoffs even though we played .500 ball the last 42 games of the season. I just think a few teams that didnt make the playoffs got better and we are still a very young and raw team.

The Pistons are young and have some talent and depth. I think that the bottom couple of playoff spots could be up for grabs and Detroit could make a push towards getting in. Stranger things have happened.

He also said that they played .500 basketball the last third of the season. They could make some noise at the bottom of the East. I disagree with the belief that the teams that missed the playoffs improved. I don't buy Toronto, and I don't buy the Bucks doing anything. The Nets should make the post-season if they stay healthy, nut neyond that, I don't see any improvement in the East. The Bulls are in transition without Rose, and the Magic are trying to hit rock bottom. The Hawks could blow it all up and completely start over, too. The Bobcats suck and I don't expect much out of the Wizards or Cavaliers. If Kyrie Irving finds a way to get Cleveland into the playoffs, he should be named MVP. Detroit, in my opinion, has as good a chance as anyone to snag one of those bottom 2 spots.

Are guarantees even relevant anymore...every year/every sport somebody comes out with a foolish guarantee to garner attention for himself and his team. At the end of the year, the person who made the guarantee is forgotten and the team had a forgetfull season. Next

Wow, this Jerebko guy is really taking a risk here. If they don't make the playoffs, it will be devastating to his reputation (if he has one).

You mention Nets. So they CLEARLY are an improved non-playoff team from last year. The Wizards are perhaps in the same boat as Detroit. Some young pieces, and if they remain healthy, can make a push.
The Hawks have nothing to blow up, they already hipped JJ and marvin, but will still remain a playoff team albeit 7-8th seed at best. Don't coun't out the Magic either, despite Howard and Anderson leaving, their starting 5 is not the worst.
I will agree with you on the raptors and Bucks, they didn't do anything positive.

He meant to say next season. The pistons will develop drummond and be a 7 or 8 seed next year. Cant wait to see it.
