Question raised over Pietrangelo surgery

08:28 AM ET 08.28 | Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo will apparently undergo minor surgery on a lower-body injury. The defenseman, who has been skating at the team's practice facility recently, elected for the procedure, which is expected to happen "very soon," one source said. ... In Game 1 of the NHL's Western Conference semifinals, he suffered a sprained knee when he was hit awkwardly into the boards by Los Angeles' Dwight King, forcing him to miss Game 2 of the series. In May, Pietrangelo said that surgery was not needed for that injury, and it's not known whether his upcoming surgery is related. The defenseman is expected to be ready for the scheduled start of training camp, Sept. 21.
