Pacers players share rare summer focus

08:09 AM ET 08.29 | There is no Big Three, no megawatt signing or great offseason buzz, but that seems to be OK in Indy. The Pacers -- obviously -- didn't go and spend big bucks on free agents around the league. They believe they can close the gap with the Heat by keeping their core players (re-signing restricted free agents Roy Hibbert and George Hill) together. They're going with that mind frame until proven it can't work. That's why they got together for workouts last week in Los Angeles. About eight players, the entire coaching staff and the training staff were out there. More players would have shown up if not for prior commitments. "That's a sign of a team that wants to improve," president Donnie Walsh said.

can't believe donnie walsh is back.....can't you just enjoy retirement?smh

If you have to sit around in a cane and get paid like y're bribing death it's no brainer. Now back to the lecture at hand.

Pacers played themselves short last season. They should have made it all the way - simply put they cheated themselves in losing to Miami. I still don't understand why they gave up Collison but we'll find out next year I guess. There's been more questionable moves in the league than that. As for the Lakers and how they easily re-up I will leave that alone.

Re-signing Hibbert was a big move. Agree with the article, the Pacers can improve greatly and do even better with their core. It was George Hill's first year with the Pacers and he missed 20 games with injury. Indy could have the best regular season record in the East this year.
