Gators reject DT commitment

Zebrie Sanders' plan to choose between Florida and Georgia this weekend has hit an unexpected snag. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound offensive tackle from Northmont High in Clayton, Oh. was set to commit to the Gators on Sunday. But the lack of scholarships available in Gainesville for offensive linemen has Sanders looking elsewhere for a place to play college football. Sanders' opportunity to commit to the Gators apparently slipped away this week after Florida accepted commitments from offensive linemen Ricky Barnum and Matt Patchan. Georgia is in a situation similar to the Gators. The Dogs are tapped out on the total number of scholarships it has remaining for the current recruiting class. Florida State and UCLA now appear to be Sanders??? new front-runners.

^I agree

If you Snooze you loose. For the record I agree with bkelly about Urban (is that his real name) Meyer; but some of these (not all) recruits try to hold colleges hostage, while they play the dating game. The reality is the colleges need good committed palyers, but there is a "limited" number of scholarships at these schools. So do your homework, you need to pick a school based on Education, your likes/dislikes of the campus life, opportunity to play (which involves their needs and how many scholarships they will be offering for your position). Unfortunately the world can become cruel at an early age.

pfft you are going to say Meyer is a prick because he ran out of scholarships for the kid? Get over yourself, every school in the country has a similar problem.

January 13, 2008  12:11 PM ET

This is funny. Sanders played hard to get, and then gets jilted. Oh well, there's someone out there desperate enough to give him what he wants: a football training ground for the NFL and not having to go to class to do it.....

January 13, 2008  12:46 PM ET

That's not why. Because he is liar and an ****, to be perfectly honest.

Just follow Doc Holliday to WVU.

From what I read it seems like the kid was trying to pick between two schools and didn't make a commitment to either one. Therefore, he and his father have zero right being upset that someone else made a firm commitment while he was deciding between the two schools. Kid should learn a lesson in decision making.

Only one player in the country can drag out schools and have an offer waiting for him and that is the QB Pryor

January 13, 2008  05:04 PM ET

I agree that high schools kids that require the spotlight and expect grown adults to kiss their butts need a reality check! Sanders...say hello to reality!!! With that said...I sure hope T. Pryor comes to Michigan...kissy, kissy, kiss!!! lol

bkelly and irish puke...you do understand how the whole scholarship thing works, right? I'm pretty sure your theory would make every coach in the NCAA a liar and prick...dumb a##@$

If i was him i'd go to Ohio St. and play near home he'll be a guaranteed starter there

January 14, 2008  12:49 AM ET

All these problems from a kid who only made his second team all-conference team his Senior year. No Ohio district awards, No state of Ohio awards. Looks like he never lived up to high school billing. Ohio State did not want him along with Notre Dame. Now Florida and Georgia too. Should have grabbed the offer when it was offered.
