08:10 AM ET 08.29 | Brian Cashman, for one, was not surprised to learn that Melky Cabrera and Bartolo Colon, both former Yankees, failed drug tests. "Unfortunately, not surprised," Cashman said on ESPN New York 98.7 FM. ... "You see some spike in performance," Cashman said. "You hope it's not the case, but you scratch your head and you wonder at the same time. But then you sit there and get a comfort level: Tests are taking place, so if people are passing their tests ... In Bartolo's case, as well as he has done last year as well through this year, at his age, after coming back from that surgery, makes you scratch your head." ... "When we traded him to Atlanta we had him as a low-end, everyday regular or an excellent fourth outfielder," Cashman said of Cabrera.

A connoisseur of the finest PED users, Cashman knows the subject matter better than any other GM.

If you were traded by the Yanks and have become better players since you left you must be on something. But Cashman fail to mention about Burnett who got away and is doing very well with the Bucs.

They said the same thing about Melky just a week ago, then he was busted. Hope Burnett has someone peeing in a cup for him...

His W-L record is nice, but his sabermetric pitching stats do not suggest an abnormal spike in performance. Also have to consider that he went from the AL East to the NL Central, a much weaker hitting division.

Colon? He had a good iedea.
Melky? No way. The numbers were not there and he traded him to the Braves. Melky started popping somewhere between Atlanta and SF. Look it up. He went from marginal/average to MVP type fast.

There ya go. You are right. It was never velocity or stuff with him. He was a head case that could not deal with the big City.

There's no spike in performance. He's hitting right around his career averages. His WAR this season is only 2.1, nowhere near his career bests.

Kinda like Boston with their laundry list of Ped users? How many titles would boston have in the last 95 years without peds? Think about that for a second. Manny has been busted and was on the mitchell report. Ortiz is on the mitchell report for a failed test. They win a title without those 2 guy's bats?

The Yankees may have won a few more WS without ARod's choking in the postseason year after year (save for 2009).

With Colon, I wasn't sure because I thought his fall off was possibly due to some injury related issues and that the operation that he had was restoring him to what he was. I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the situation. Melky's improvement was rather obvious.

Wiseup yourself...
Arod was confirmed to be doing roids...in Texas, before his time in New York.
Giambi confirmed to be doing them in Oakland, once again before going to New York.
Clemens started roids it looks like in Toronto. Once again, before coming to New York.
So while I cant stand any of the 3, or the Yankees, they signed the best players they could at the time. I doubt you would complain at your favorite team doing the exact same thing. It was in the steroid era and EVERY team had multiple steroid users. That includes whatever team it is that you happen to follow. It wasn't just limited to New York
