Wings shopping for a D-man ... maybe two

08:21 AM ET 08.29 | After losing top-four defensemen Nicklas Lidstrom to retirement and Brad Stuart to San Jose, Detroit is a little thin on the blue line. [The Red Wings] will add a defenseman before the season. Will it be a free-agent third-pair defenseman or a top-four defenseman acquired through a trade? Will it happen before the expiration of the current collective bargaining agreement on Sept. 15 or after a new labor deal is reached? That is still to be determined. "We're talking to a few people," Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said. "There's some veteran defensemen looking for an opportunity. We need to sign another defenseman, maybe two. Will we do something before Sept. 15? Maybe."

What I don't get is where these morons get off putting Brad Stuart in the "top-four defensemen" category. Top six? Yes. Top four? Only if he's paired with a guy like Nick Lidstrom. He ain't got the balls to be top four.
