08:11 AM ET 08.30 | If an interview with GM Terry Ryan can be taken at face value, Twins fans should get used to the current roster. While Ryan stopped short of confirming that he will agree to owner Jim Pohlad's request that he trim the "interim" tag from his title, he sounded determined to keep the job and turn the Twins into contenders. Ryan was blunt about a variety of subjects. He ... Will not fire manager Ron Gardenhire. ... Won't force Gardenhire to make changes to his coaching staff. ... Considers Justin Morneau a "core" player whom he expects to thrive next season. ... Wants people to stop blaming Joe Mauer for the team's problems. ... Doubts he will pursue any elite free-agent pitchers this winter, saying it will be a "thin" market.

I'd say they're a little worse than mediocre at the moment.

THE TWINS HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER AT THIS POINT,,,

August 30, 2012  02:31 PM ET

the mauer showcase has not a single effect in the market now days,,

August 30, 2012  02:33 PM ET

is the fans or the owner/media blaming joe mauer faillure in the twins baseball capabilities?? anybody should know that the injuries rule in the twins franchise in the last 3 years,,,

DOUBTFULL the boston team is not going to unload hefty contracts just to get another's contract mess and where is the logic?? i mean mauer is a injuried-prone player plain and simple,,,

if just if,, anybody thinks to trade for mauer except mauer's contract, then i believe the twins could get a deal even withe astros franchise why not?? after all mauer should be given away for free, because where is the guarantee in this trade?? nobody can get anything positive from mauer but more injuries most likely!!!

August 30, 2012  02:40 PM ET

the twins got themselves in this long term contract mess, is not mauer's fault is not his injuried rash body to bloame, rather blame the twins bad luck just like that,,,

the twins went from so-so team, to the worse franchise in the last 3 years or so,,,

August 30, 2012  02:45 PM ET

long terms contracts are too sensible to accepted just as anything else, the sensibility of the matter is worse than any timming bomb,,,because nobody can predict the future why the teams can't understand that?? why the GM keep given big long term contracts?? why is so difficult to solve this easy puzzle??

long term deals are as a wrecked train expecting to happen at any time at any place,,,does the GM/OWNERS would continue giving big long term contracts?? and where is the investments in return?? they appear to be lost in the dust at the end nobody wins but the player, healthy or injuried,, the player win-win situation!!!

August 30, 2012  02:50 PM ET

in every fail long term deal,,,it should reflect in that specific GM, in the last resort the owner should get the blame in full for the wrong deals done in his franchise,,,

August 30, 2012  02:53 PM ET

the twins could do themselves a favor,,,
trade away mauer for a single A minor leaguer and pay mauer's contract in full,
or trade him for two minor league decent pitchers,,,and still pay in full for mauer's contract,,
any other option?? call it a quits and set the business in the rate of zeros at the meter,,,

August 30, 2012  02:54 PM ET

small teams,, not every small team business workout for better,,,

August 30, 2012  02:55 PM ET

in the long run small teams would throw everything away in a blink of an eye,,,
and all the hard work should vanished in a split of a second,,,

August 30, 2012  02:57 PM ET

its hard and difficult to find honesty in the sport business, and when is founded those people in charge tend to treat unwell those good deeds,,,

August 30, 2012  02:58 PM ET

royals would remain been a mediocricy franchise,,, it not matter what they try year in and year out,, everything return back to the same type of passive and at times frozed business,,

August 30, 2012  03:00 PM ET

likewise the rays or the nationals even now the A's nothing is guarantee perhaps in another five years we could get the right answer,,,
