Progress too slow for Pettitte?

08:12 AM ET 08.30 | For more than a month now, the Yankees have been playing merely .500 baseball, and, even before the Blue Jays roughed up CC Sabathia on Wednesday, there was some bad news coming from Andy Pettitte. [In] the course of giving his periodic injury update to the media horde, he uttered the last two words Joe Girardi wanted to hear: Flat ground. Yep, Dandy Andy is still in the "pitching off flat ground" phase of his recovery from that broken left leg he suffered on June 28, still not cleared to actually get on a mound. And even though Girardi expressed hope that such a promising development could happen by the weekend, this does not bode well for Pettitte being a factor in the Yankees' postseason plans.

If he is not pitching off a mound now you can forget about him helping you the rest of the way.

Unless he can get a hit with two out and a man on second , then he makes no difference. Still the only team in MLB never to have won a game this year when trailing after 8 innings.

That's a very interesting stat, and is not a plus in the playoffs.

It happened 10 years ago...and he was a man and admitted it...the guy put the team first..mistake? Of course. And he has a broken bone in his leg, which takes time to heal especially for a pitcher. Oswalt, he just fell off the face of the Earth.
