Oregon's disservice to diehard fans

08:23 AM ET 08.31 | Thanks to a discounting coupon website, Ducks fans could scoop up a pair of tickets to Saturday's game against Arkansas State, along with two sodas, for only $110. That's a 29 percent discount over regular prices. You save $44. Win the day, I guess. ... But it's become apparent that television revenue, the pursuit of a Bowl Championship Series bowl game and a sellout streak at any cost is far more important than keeping the full-frieght die-hard customers happy. ... Things have changed at Oregon. But not so much that anyone should take season-ticket buying fans for granted. The blue-collar fan who shells out hard-earned money for overpriced gravel parking spots is the real champion of this Oregon program.

So the regular price of a ticket is $77. That's just ridiculous.

Lowly old Arky tickets in this little backwoods state run $65 per this year, and that doesn't include the donation you have to give to have the right to buy the tickets, or the parking pass you have to make an additonal donation to recieve, either.
CFB is BIG busniess.

So, if the regular price of a ticket is $77, die-hard blue collar fans are expected to shell out $231 over a 3 game stretch to see Arkansas State, Fresno State and Tennessee Tech. Meanwhile Phil Knight throws millions into the program which is spent on luxuries.

I can drink a lot of beer in air conditioned surroundings for $77.
They've priced the common Joe right out of being able to take the family to the game.
But there must be enough people with coin cuz there are a lot of full stadiums....a lot of empty ones too.

Dang. I'm glad i would get my tickets free to go see games at War Memorial stadium. Didn't pay for parking either. Just parked at the mall and walked down to the game. Then again that was back in the 80's.

I've been getting complimentary tickets to TCU games through my company. Granted they were on the visitor's side of the stadium but who cares? Now TCU is in the Big12 and they remodeled their stadium. I can probably kiss those complimentary tickets goodbye.

Yes that has been my strategy at a lot of sporting events. Wait till the event starts then look for scalpers dumping their tickets at the front gate.

Cheapest tickets to a Colorado U game are $50 through their website. On the other side of the scale, there are always tickets available to Air Force games in the upper corners for $5 each.
