Bob Stoops: OU critics of Landry Jones are 'insane'

10:15 AM ET 09.01 | Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops appeared on The Sports Animal in Oklahoma City to discuss the upcoming season. One question about quarterback Landry Jones set him off: On a segment of Oklahoma fans that aren't happy that Landry Jones is back: "That's insane. But again, that's just fans, that's what they do. That's OK. I'm not complaining about it. Let's face it: We have one of those jobs everybody thinks they can do it better. That's all right. But a lot of people are fairly ignorant, too, about what their understanding is of football and how it's played."

Don't get mad, Medium Game Bob, get even! = P Landry is overrated...but I think he'll have a good season, OU got lucky and picked up Brown from PSU and got a very good class of freshmen wideouts. That O-line though will give up sacks and Jones *will* be throwing too many picks for them to end up Top 5.

Nobody cares about Oklahoma, and they are not a serious contender. Every time they get to a BCS bowl game they get snuffed in an uncontested massacre. Every season they have a very good QB, Landry Jones is no different. There's no talk about OU or Landry Jones outside of Norman, so they must be arguing over the ignorant opinions of Sooner fans, which is redundant. Isn't there a UCLA thread T&R can run instead of this?

Landry Jones is not a big game QB. When you're up by 28 against Kansas, he can put up big numbers. Trailing A&M or Oklahoma State in the 2nd half, he falls apart. Front runner, cannot handle adversity.

Landry might be ok. It's Bob Stoops that OU needs to get rid of. Worst coach OU has ever had. Yeah, he wins a lot of games. Just can't win any of the important ones. We'll never have a national championship while he's still at the helm.
