Jimmy Rollins apologizes to Charlie Manuel

09:17 AM ET 09.01 | It was about 4:15 Friday afternoon when Jimmy Rollins, in uniform, walked into Charlie Manuel's office in the visiting clubhouse at Turner Field and closed the door behind him. Ten minutes later, Manuel held the door as Rollins walked out. There was no blood, no broken bones, no chipped teeth. In fact, both men were smiling after they addressed Rollins' latest transgression and put it behind them. "It was a good talk," Rollins said. "You break the rules, you get punished. Plain and simple." Rollins failed to run hard on an infield pop up in Thursday's game against the Mets and Manuel pulled him from the game. The incident came two weeks after Rollins failed to run out a ground ball in Miami. Rollins was not pulled from that game, but was called into Manuel's office and reprimanded the next day. This time, Rollins initiated the meeting. "He apologized," Manuel said. "He walked in and manned-up."

@daqweeed... that is like Jimmy. He has bouts of this every year. Yeah, he is frustrated but lack of hustle, given what he is paid, is Charlie's golden rule.

speaking of apologies..the Red Sox should apologize to everyone in New England for an immensely pathetic showing in Oakland last night. 20 runs to a weak hitting team is hitting rock bottom.

The Phillies have been playing better since getting Howard & Utley off the DL. The hole they put themselves in was just too deep to get out of.

Melky has plenty to apologize for, but this story isn't about him. Every team has injuries; some just deal with it better than others.

in another news,,,the twins should trade mauer or just keep him in the twin city?? well if the options are clear, if the twins expect to trade him and pay nothing from their hefty contract they are really wrong ,nobody i mean nobody would take mauer and his hefty contract plus his rash of injuries unjuries that are worse than any debt around his neck, the twins want to trade mauer? best options? pay in full for mauer's contract and we would be talking business plain and simple!!!

mauer is not the most important player in the twins city... but they have a OF who has more homeruns than anybody and leads the team with a 100 RBI'S if not but should get more than 100 RBI'S,,,

teams are expecting to trade injuried-prone players that use to be good but can't perform any better because of the injuries plus their hefty contracts are more difficult to move all because of bad choices,,, wrong deals lead to a wrong results,,, willinham has a contract for 3 years 26 millions better production at the plate, better work at the OF little salary for his great contribution for the team, about mauer he is not even the shadow that he use to be two years ago,,,
