Alex Rodriguez on way back

09:53 AM ET 09.01 | Alex Rodriguez, perhaps only days away from rejoining the struggling Yankees, went 0-for-3 last night with a pair of strikeouts while playing for the organization's Single-A Tampa affiliate in Lakeland, Fla. It was the first game action in five weeks for Rodriguez, sidelined since a Felix Hernandez pitch broke a bone in his left hand during a July 24 game in Seattle. Serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff to insure he received as many at-bats as possible, Rodriguez also grounded out, walked and scored a run in a 7-6 loss to the Tigers' Single-A affiliate.

Sounds like he's already in playoff form.

You are right. He makes little difference. Not any more.

The O's are two games back and don't show much sign of disappearing. Yank's need any help they can get at this point.

I dare say they're better with Chavez at 3rd....ARod is a broken down shell of what he was...period. John Sterling at certain media butt lickers will generate some hysteria if he gets a couple of hits but the MVP Arod? He ain't walking through that door....Brian Cashman has to live with that deal....

the yankees are in a desperation mode, even if they refuse to accept the reality this team has too many holes and to much of a incossistent at their lineup bad timming to walk sideways if you know what i mean!!!

A deal that Rodriguez earned years ago from Texas and Boston. NY was third in line and received production from Alex. If not NY some team would be fitting his bill.

A deal that ARod earned from Boston??????

right now, the yankees aren't searching for names as a high hope in their lineup, the team is drowning in half of glass of water but this time of the year everything is the cruel reality, should the yankees expect their actual roster pull them in to the playoffs berth? their chances in making the playoffs are getting thiner than anybody thought, but not to worried the rays aren't a solid conssistent team and that's a plus for the yanks!!!
