Should Mets trade David Wright and R.A. Dickey?

agree, this is a NY team. A $90M payroll is a joke and a insult to Met fans. If ownership can't do better than that they should sell the team.

MLB should have leaned on ownership to sell the team like they did to the Dodger ownership. Wilpons got a hell of a deal from Mayor Bloomberg to "own" and develop the acreage around Citifield, (at taxpayers expense).

No. The idea is to get better and build around a few star players.

trade for a top prospects, by giving long term contracts things would turn very ugly at the end,,,

now days you shouldn't use any long term contracts at all, a two years deal for every top player is the right move when you do investment you would like to get your money bigger than three times the amount that it was invested!!!

david wright its a good talented player but there is something that i don't agree with him, there are more serious injuries behind wright stats, where or what type of guarantee does any team has in return from david wright?? everything is just too doubtfull can't take any player just with his past history when he use to be a tough and conssistent hitter!!!

the mets should use a different type of approach when is about making business, short term deal two years deal three at most, the players don't like it? then they should walk away but the mets have to learn how to make business when is time to do it nothing should be more important than making sure the franchise is walking forwards and nothing else!!!

the red sox were lucky with the dodgers because honestly now days is very hard to find any takers specially when those players do have a hefty contracts,,,

wiseup: Call up what talent you do have in farm system and play them to find out what you do have. Start trading players while you can get top prospects for RA Dickey is (WOW) 38 and David Wright is only 30.( I might question trading wright. He is just coming into the prime of his career)By trading off players to get several top prospects to stockto stock minors with.Also the Mets free up a bunch of payroll to participate in free agency if right player is available. This might be painful for fans and management to watch. you hire coaches who are patient but good teachers and hopefully you will have some young talent that can have productive careers.

Wise up: One advantage by playing younger prospcts from minors who later make it to the majors to stay you wont have big contracts. they realize they could always be sent back. As far as any free agent you might look at you limit the contract amount or turn deal down. Also with a stocked farm system it might give you some trade bait for aqiring a desperate need to fill a whole due to a major injury. some one on a Reds blog made a comment that if the Reds bench Frazier when Votto comes back Frazier should demand a trade. I laughed. Rookies consider themselves lucky to be here. Besides the Reds wont be letting him go anywhere for several years. Rookies Dont demand anything.

I'm not sure I want to trade R.A. Dickey. Although he's 38, he's relying on knuckballs and I don't see what's going to stop him from pitching into his mid 40's. They should keep Johan Santana too because he looks like he just need another year to be back to his old form. The only bad contract they signed was with Jason Bay. Mets were tied in first place at one point this year before they fell apart after All-Stars. I think they can be a contender if they just have the money to add a few more players.
