08:01 AM ET 09.03 | The clock is ticking. The mystery surrounding Jason Witten's status for Wednesday night's opener continues. From what he has seen in practice, quarterback Tony Romo believes the Pro Bowl tight end will play. Jerry Jones isn't willing to go that far, but concedes that Witten has shown tremendous progress since he lacerated his spleen on Aug. 13. The Cowboys owner awaits the results of the scan Witten will take Tuesday before the team departs for New York. ... Romo is convinced that Witten will be there against the Giants. "As of what I know, I think he's going to, yeah," Romo said. "He's been out here, he's been practicing. He's in my ear about all the plays."

He needs him for the whole season. With 11 days in between their first and second game it would make sense to give him the extra time.

Timely Hitting is starting to catch up with them, pitching for the most part holding it's own, Hughes and Jobba are head cases, da walking wounded should be returning soon, bench players have cooled off!

They have played .500 baseball since the all star break. It is what they are. They were playing .500 baseball before Arod and Tex went down. do not let the power stats fool you, they are not a good hitting team.

They had to rewrite the rule book to make the dude wear a helmet, a little boo boo on his spleen is nothing. This guy is a football player.

We need our O-Line to step up.
That's the key to the game... because we all know that the Giants defensive line will step up.
