08:07 AM ET 09.03 | In addition to good news about a player who has signed, Brooklyn continues to look for help. The Nets' ongoing search for frontcourt depth has led them to Houston and a meeting with Andray Blatche, who was cut this summer by the Washington Wizards. Blatche, 26, has been working out in Houston with a number of other N.B.A. players, under the guidance of John Lucas. He was set to meet with Nets Coach Avery Johnson sometime this weekend, according to two people with knowledge of the meeting. It was not clear whether the Nets were prepared to make Blatche an immediate offer or were simply exploring their options. The Wizards severed ties with Blatche in July, using the N.B.A.'s amnesty provision to remove his $23 million contract from the salary cap.

after re-thinking what would be best for him....I've come to the conclusion that you have to truly be a complete turd to be amnestied when you are only 26 years old, are a big and can score

Seriously...

Yeah, I think the Blatche question has been pretty well chewed on/chewed up. He's been ac'd for over a month and still no takers from any of the nba teams. Maybe there are teams that have interest that are just waiting for a few more weeks to see if other players come available. But it does not look good for AB right now.

My only appearences in that newly built dump filled with scrub fans and players is when my Knicks come across the bridge to my home (Brooklyn) and give downtown Brooklyn the buzz it has been missing for decades now. It doesn't matter if the go after airheads like Blatche to give D.Will an assist, they're still silly and incomplete second rate frauds.

Andray "Turd" Blatche. It has a certain cache, wouldn't you say?

will you still be so arrogant when they finish ahead of your Knicks? It's one thing to be a Knick fanatic which, given their ignoble journey thru the oughts, you must be to still be a fan. Its another to so completely denigrate everything about a franchise likely to be your franchise's better in the upcoming season.

I actually think its him- that he doesn't want to play for a vet minimum

Yeah, initially I was thinking the same, or he was being selective waiting for a contender to make an offer. But a week or so ago, he was quoted as saying he would even accept a D-League assignment. It does seem like there is something more since he does have skills and there is very little interest.

Heat need to sign either Blatche or Harrellson.I'd meet with Blatche first though.Harrellson is having a 2nd workout cause Riles missed his first one.If Harrellson isn't signed, meet with Blatche!Blatche has upside, no he ain't no saint, neither is Cousins, but hasn't Cousins improved his attitude?Blatche was on the wizards for 7 years, yes? That's 7 long years of losing.Riley is a mastermind, simply explain in depth to the young man how Miami is a winning organization, a chance to win a title and Blatche could be a part of that.No he may not start, but he would get sufficient minutes to produce for the team.

blatche is a lazy peice of shi*. There was a story a couple years ago about how antwan jamison seen him eating nachos 20 minutes before a game and asked him " are u getting 50 mill yet? cause u act like a person whos already getting paid". Basiclly he was calling him a peice of shi* cause he came late and aint shoot around "he never did" and then was sitting eating nachos. slim is a loser i cant stand him i swear i used to be so exicited about his talent and potential and one day i just woke up and realized that he was never gonna be what he could be. He may fit with the heat because he may not be able to be lazy around james and wade they mayt be able to pull the talent out of him and if they do than the heat will be trouble cause blatche has 20 and ten a game potential
