Uggla in Gonzalez's doghouse

08:09 AM ET 09.03 | After voicing concern over a sputtering offense Saturday, Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez shuffled his lineup on Sunday. Gonzalez sat struggling Dan Uggla for the third time in 11 games, and he dropped Jason Heyward from the third spot in the order, where he's been a fixture since June 29, against left-hander Cole Hamels. ... The last time Gonzalez sat Uggla vs. Hamels on Aug. 7, he pointed to his career numbers against Hamels; Uggla is 8-for-55 (.145) against Hamels). This time Gonzalez spoke in generalities, which would seem to portend more time on the bench for the struggling second baseman. Uggla has hit only .152 (37-for-243) in his past 73 games since June 5.

Fredi would join Manny on the fired list if the Braves don't make the playoffs.

even if the braves manager gets into playoffs berth, my guess gonzalez needs not to be in any playoffs spot why?? he would be sweeped at the first round anyway!!!

Wiseup: Uggla is a victimof what have you done for the braves lately. The manager has the right to play the lineup he feels would give the braves the best chance to win on a regular basis and hold onto the top wildcard spot. Uggla has slumped since all-star game down to his current .209 aver. Prado has taken the 2nd spot C. Jones and J francisco have been manning 3rd . Janish with is slighly lower .194 aver. but good defense at SS. If Uggla wants to get back in line up he has to keep himself ready when he gets at bats. When he gets his chance make the most of it.

wiseup: I dont know what happened at the allstar game ,but since then at least two players have slumped seriously since. Uggla has slumped from allstar to being benched with a .209 average. The pirates allstar and before was being considered for NL MVP. As the Pirates Andrew Mccuchten was hitting .373 At all- star break. Since then McCucten has slumped since the break in a steady downward spiral allthe way to .342 after todays game. The Pirates have also followed that spiral down also. Furcal also has dropped into the.290s and is now probably done for season. Beltans aver has dived since all-star game.

I was really hoping for something resembling the Uggla of the second half of last year.
Nope.

I guess $60m doesn't get you much today... I'm so happy the Braves way overpaid for him. Did anybody watch this guy carefully during his last years with the Marlins? I'm sure you miss his stellar defense too.
