Notre Dame QB to redshirt?

08:20 AM ET 09.03 | Tommy Rees is back -- but only sort of, as he'll compete to become the No. 2 quarterback and won't be in play at all as the starter against Purdue Saturday. Freshman Gunner Kiel becomes the fourth option. . ... That Kiel currently sits fourth doesn't speak to his potential, his progress -- or whether he might eventually redshirt this season. But if you are receiving No. 4 reps during the season, it is difficult to make a surge unless there's an injury. The decision whether to redshirt Kiel will likely be dictated by the top of the depth chart rather than what the Columbus, Ind., product looks like in practice in limited opportunities. He does not have the skill set or a ceiling that projects him as a five-year player, though.

See Gunner, big error coming there, should have went to LSU dude.

Yeah, you could have perfected the art of handing off had you gone there.

Nothing wrong with doing that, if you've got a Bell ringer for a running back.

"He does not have the skill set or a ceiling that projects him as a five-year player, though"ouch. But some said that during his recruitment too. He's a big boy though.

I think that's code for "he's too good to stick around 5 years". Of course that assessment is based on 2-3 years of Rivals love.

True, it works great as long as you have better talent than the other guy. It worked for LSU right up to the championship game. Then, when they couldn't "out talent" the opponent, <insert Paul Harvey's rest of the story>.

Might need a plan B just in case...or at least some balance.

If you win it all, what does it matter.

Because Sam Bradford is making 100 mil right now and Greg McElroy is making 100k

Guido, told you the Eagles would slay the Dragons. SLC was just playing a game. Allen was playing for their lives. They couldn't have showed their faces had they lost the first game at a $60 million stadium!

Now that's funny right there.

Yep, great facility. SLC made stupid mistakes and Allen just outplayed them.

Wow, Greg took a pay cut, who knew.

Guido can say it cuz I believe he walked the same halls as McElroy.

When Kelly first got to South Bend, there was only one QB on scholarship, and he was recovering from a major knee injury. Gholson looked great on Saturday. If he can't go, Hendrix can step in. I can see Kiel coming in as a junior and getting his shot. I'll betcha one or two of those QBs (Rees and then Hendrix) transfer.
