Spurrier: 'We're going to struggle against East Carolina'

08:22 AM ET 09.03 | Whether South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw starts against East Carolina remains up in the air, according to Steve Spurrier. "Connor's condition is wait and see," said Spurrier. "We'll see how it is about Wednesday or so, but I doubt he'll practice any before then." Shaw bruised his right shoulder in the second quarter of the Gamecocks 17-13 Southeastern Conference win at Vanderbilt. ... "If we're not healthy, we're not going to play him," Spurrier said of Shaw. "We're going to struggle against East Carolina the way it is. It's going to be a tight ball game, just about like all of our games are going to be." The potential loss of Shaw compounds a problem that already concerns Spurrier -- the lack of a passing attack against Vanderbilt.

Nah, they're good. Gordon Gee said so...even though he didn't mean to. (Remember Murderer's Row?)

Hey, Michigan played a real good team, South Carolina barely got by a below average team.

In spite of Gee's expert analysis of the state of B1G football, many people in the Great Lake State knew that scUM was indeed overrated. The funny part is all the local media acting like they thought so all along, even though all of their pre-game articles were proclaiming "Michigan is Back"

I think Piratey correctly called the game. scUM's O line and D line were terrible. The only question is how to fix them?

I'm tempted to agree, but don't you think that's a little late? I believe the opinion polls get a little better over the course of the season. All you really want to do is eliminate the pre-season bias. Start the polls in October.

Michigan might not be able to fix their O line and D line problems this year!!!!

Exactly. Makeshift lines and no depth.

IMHO I think they should wait until at least 75% of conference games have been played.
