08:15 AM ET 09.04 | Just as the Nets will make a push to introduce themselves in Brooklyn, their players will likely not be calling the neighborhood home. For reasons both practical and personal, the Brooklyn Nets will not be living in Brooklyn, at least for their inaugural season. It is not a matter of preference, but logistics: Although the Nets will play at the new Barclays Center near Downtown Brooklyn, they will still practice at their longtime training center in East Rutherford, N.J. The lease runs two more years. The Nets have 44 home games, including the preseason. They could have 75 days of practice. The housing choice comes down to simple math and, considering commuting issues, sanity preservation.

That's just a BAD commuteThese players won't stand for that

Yeah there is NO good solution for this one. Living in NJ, having to commute back there AFTER games is going to suck a bit.

On the plus side, no hipsters clogging up their neighborhoods...

Why can't they practice at the new arena itself??

There are some very nice neighborhoods close to downtown. Carroll Gardens is a great example of one. Pretty expensive though.

They can.....but they have two years left on there lease at the training facility at East Rutherford.....

And for some reason, their billionair owner can't afford to pay that rent and not use the facility.
