08:33 AM ET 09.04 | The closer the NHL moves toward a lockout, the closer players are to taking a work trip. The 2004-05 season was canceled when an agreement could not be reached and many players joined teams in Europe. It could happen again. "If that needs to be an option, certainly," Hawks forward Patrick Sharp said. "I grew up dreaming of playing in the NHL and I love playing for the Hawks, so that's obviously the first choice, (but) if it comes to that then that's always an option." ... "You have (playing in Europe) in the back of your head," center Dave Bolland said. ... Other Hawks have discussed the possibility of playing in Europe with [agent Pat Brisson] saying in an email that young stars Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane would consider it.

The only red light Kane would be interested in would be found in Amsterdam.
