08:33 AM ET 09.04 | Beyond the billionaires and the millionaires in the NHL, there are many workers who count on them in varying degrees for their income. "At Rogers Arena downtown [in Vancouver], it's a major workplace. There's 1,500 people that go to work there, not just at the game night, but also to keep the maintenance up, to keep the place running, to put the ice in, to take the ice out," said Jim Sinclair from the BC Federation of Labour. The Calgary Flames told its 175 full-time employees to expect pay cuts during a lockout, and other team owners are expected to do the same. "The bottom line is there are tens of thousand of people all over North America who will be affected by this directly, in their pocketbook," [Sinclair said].

I said it another thread, but the NHL has lost me - I will never pay another dime to these people.
My first game was an exhibition match between the Devils and the Russian Dynamo team in the 90-91 season, and 22 years in this abusive relationship is more than enough.
There's plenty of college and minor league action in the Northeast, and if I do move to Oregon I'm super stoked to check out the WHL.

Lockout = the same for me.
I will follow my team when the lockout's over, but the days of spending $$ on tickets and merchandise are over.

I sense, for all of our bluster (I agree by theway) it will be acadenmic at that point. I for one cannot afford to go to the games anymore.
Sam Rosen will be just fine here in NYC thank you. And the beer is better and cheaper at home!

As Bettman has so eloquently stated, hockey fans are the best (so they can be taken for granted).
Nobody expects…

Even with free tickets, if you pay for parking and food for you and your guest/family you're still shelling out some big bucks. It's a shame my kid will be 3 and I wanted to take him to his first game this year even without a lockout I will be lucky to get my hands on 3 tickets that aren't crazy expensive.

We shall not worry about these workers, I am only concerned if Cablevision and Comcast make enough money. Silly people you are. Caring about workers. If Cablevision makes more money, and then charge me more money for my cable than it's a win win for them. A win win is a win.

Those are the people I feel sorry for. For them, this isn't a matter weather they can buy another Porsche or go on another exotic vacation or buy another mansion. For them, it's a matter of being able to afford the basic necessities of life and being able to pay their bills.
But ....... why should millionaires give a damn about who gets hurt? This is all about them, don't you know?

They better settle this. Hockey is experiencing a resurgence and this would definetly hurt the game along with the people that rely on it for income.
