Pats bring in another big-name tight end

08:02 AM ET 09.05 | If there's one thing the Patriots need, it's a tight end, right? The Patriots will work out tight end Kellen Winslow, sources told ESPN, confirming multiple reports. Winslow was released by the Seahawks on Saturday. The team originally acquired him in a trade with Tampa Bay in May. Winslow has a base salary of $3.3 million for the 2012 season, which would have been guaranteed if he was on the roster for the season opener. That financial commitment presumably contributed to his release. With Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, Daniel Fells and Visanthe Shiancoe already filling tight end spots on the roster, the interest in Winslow likely falls into the "in case of emergency" category.

The Pats "work out" a lot of guys. With Hernandez and Gronk, they are going to have a lot of plays to their tight ends, so they're just making sure they've got a list of phone numbers in case disaster strikes.
They also line up Gronkowski wide and Hernandez in the backfield. Don't be surprised to see 4 tight ends in the huddle some time this year.
That's right, Mr. Revis. If you didn't like taking on Tim Tebow, wait until you see 265 pounds of Gronk bearing down on you.

Our Red Sox are making it easier for the poor and the homeless to go to baseball games.

I will proudly admit to being a bandwagon Red Sox fan. My primary care physician advises against total Sox fandom. It's bad for the blood pressure or something.

This is like having 2 1/2 teams worth of TEs. What's up with that?

He doesn't help any, but the problems with the team go back a lot further. They should have kept Francona and canned the team, instead of the other way around.

Yep. Although prognosis with Bobby was 50-50. Unfortunately, the arrow was southward bound.

Pats are still pretty thin at TE. They need to bring in Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates for tryouts.
