08:06 AM ET 09.05 | Avery Johnson admitted during the 2011-12 season that he feared Dallas might woo Deron Williams away from New Jersey. "We felt we were going to be able to re-sign Deron," Johnson said [Tuesday in suburban Dallas]. "We felt it was like 80-90 percent, but it was the 10 percent that you were worried about. That was the whole key. But I'm glad that's all behind us now and we can move forward and we can have a team that we're hoping is going to be pretty competitive when we get it on the floor." ... As far as retaining the services of Williams, Johnson wanted everyone to know he didn't steal the point guard away from the Mavericks. "I didn't take anybody," Johnson said. "He was with us first. "We just re-signed our own guy."

Did I miss something? Did anyone accuse of them stealing?

It was some stupid reporter who asked a stupid question like that. Media people are so ridiculous most of the time.

non-story but this is further evidence of the decline in quality of the Star-Telegram.

I assume "possibly" being the operative word? i.e. with the assumption that Joe Johnson will still produce at a semi-elite 2-gaurd rate?

I agree the Nets will be good. I think they can manage 50+ wins at the very least.
I'm interested to see how Lopez/Humphries do, and how the team "gels".

Have to agree with that.
Bad contract and all, JJ produced every single year he was with the Hawks. The great thing about JJ is, the days when his shots aren't falling, he'll end up with like 8 assists and 8 boards.
He's also a stable presence in the locker room, and no known issues off the court.
Jersey will have a good year for sure. My concern would be their big man, always hurt and hasn't done much at all.

Not sure you are in minority, unless I misunderstand what you mean by 'good team'; playoff appearance between 4-8?...good, not great (yet).

- But to get better the Nets need to steal somebody in the near future. Don't bet on the being the newly crowned D.H. (after his first ring).
